Summertime, when the livin’ easy. And there is not much easier than sitting back in the sunshine and sipping on a delicious and refreshing cocktail. But there are so many different cocktails to try it’s hard to pick a favorite.
To help you narrow your selection, we curated 7 refreshing summer cocktails that you can make right now at your home or bar.
1 – Bangin’ Pineapple Punch
Pineapple is a classic summer flavor and a feature in our first cocktail on the list. This one will have extra spice and flavor because of the infused simple syrup. We wrote a great piece on simple syrups, check it out here.
You’ll Need:
1.5 oz Spiced Rum
1 oz Brandy
2 oz Pineapple Juice
0.5 oz Lime Juice
0.75 oz Spiced Simple Syrup (Cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, anise),
2 Dashes Bitters,
Pineapple Wedge and Cinnamon Stick
How:
Combine rum, brandy, pineapple juice, lime juice, and simple syrup into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into glass over ice and garnish with a pineapple wedge and cinnamon stick.
2 – Peach Tree Fizz
The Peach Tree Fizz is built in the glass and layering this one will get you a nice green to yellow transition. Which you will enjoy for about 3 seconds because this one is delicious! This cocktail is built in the glass and if you do it just right the colors should fade from green to orange. A great presentation and an even better flavor.
You’ll Need:
1 oz Peach liqueur
1.25oz Blue Curacao
2.oz Orange Juice
0.5 oz Lemon Juice
2oz Sprite
How:
Prep your glass with crushed ice. Shake the peach liqueur, orange juice and lemon juice in ice. Pour your blue curacao into the bottom of your glass then strain the shaker on top. Fill the gap with lemon/lime soda. Garnish with orange round.
3 – Smokey Cilantro Paloma
Say hello to the Smoky Cilantro Paloma. This cocktail is prepared by packing the shaker with a fist full of cilantro before straining over ice. Combining this with the smokiness from the Mezcal will give you a memorable cocktail perfect for the pool.
You’ll Need:
1 oz Mezcal
1 oz Grapefruit Juice
1 bundle cilantro
0.75 oz Coco Real
1.5 oz Soda Water
Cilantro Garnish
How:
Put a fist full of cilantro into your shaker with ice on top. Second add your grapefruit, mezcal and coconut cream and shake. Strain over ice top with soda water and garnish with more cilantro.
4 – Pete’s Pina Colada
Pina Colada! Everyone seems to have a different way to make theirs, ours is a riff on the original hold the slush. Shake and server over ice, please.
You’ll Need:
1.5 oz White Rum
2 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Coconut Cream
Pineapple Garnish
How:
In a shaker add your rum, pineapple and coconut cream then shake and serve over ice. Garnish with pineapple. These don’t last long so you can batch make a few at a time if your shaker can support it.
5 – Royal Hawaiian
The Royal Hawaiian is an exotic mix of Empress 1908 Gin and Orgeat syrup to give you a unique flavor experience. If you don’t have access to Empress 1908 you can infuse your gin with Pea Blossom powder. Either way, float the Gin on top of your mix.
You’ll Need:
1.5 oz Empress 1908 Gin
1.5 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Orgeat Syrup
0.5 oz Lemon Juice
Lavender Garnish
How:
Add pineapple, syrup, and lemon into a shaker first. Second, pour into your glass with crushed ice. Finally, float the Empress 1908 on top to get this dramatic colored effect. Garnish with a flour or lavender sprig.
6 – BACARDI Red Rum Punch
This delicious cocktail is the Bacardi Red Rum Punch. Found this recipe on Chilled Magazine and it features three different types of Bacardi giving it huge citrus flavor. When you taste it your eyes will light up! Perfect for the 4th of July!
You’ll Need:
0.75 oz BACARDI Raspberry
0.75 oz BACARDI Limon
0.75 oz BACARDI Superior
0.5 oz grenadine
2 oz Sweet & Sour
1 oz Cranberry Juice
How:
Add all ingredients to a shaker and strain over fresh ice. This is a good on to make in bulk and serve as a punch!
7 – Ramos Gin Fizz
Ramos Gin Fizz is a workout to make but delicious going down. Bring out the big guns and get ready to shake. This one has a dry shake and a shake with ice. Both need the dedication to get to the right consistency. Try one today.
You’ll Need:
2oz Gin
0.5oz Half-and-Half
0.5oz Lemon Juice
0.5oz Lime Juice
0.5oz Simple
1 Egg White
1 Dash Orange Flower Water
Club Soda
How:
Combine all ingredients except the club soda and shake for 30-60 seconds without ice. Add ice and shake for another 30-60 seconds. Pour into a collins glass. Use a splash of club soda to get the sediment out of your shaker and float on top for garnish.
